Seasons are closing, playoffs
February 21, 2014 - As I reported last week the high
school basketball season is fast approaching playoff mode and I mentioned
several teams that I had seen and gave you a top ten of teams that I have
seen. That formula applies again this week.
I hope to see several teams in the upcoming weeks.
# 1. St. John’s 26-2 featured balanced attack
clinched the top seed in the WCAC post season tournament
with a 66-63 win over O’Connell at home. Tre Campbell led
the Cadets with 14 points. Darian Anderson chipped in with
13 points and Darian Bryant finished with 12 points.
The Cadets lost to # 3 DeMatha Wednesday 73-52 on the
# 2. Bullis 22-3. Jamal Greenwood scored 18 points
as the Bulldogs defeated Episcopal 54-40 to clinch the IAC
# 3. DeMatha 24-3 winners of four consecutive
WCAC Conference games (O’Connell, McNamara, Paul VI, and John’s
73-52 on Wednesday is the current hot team in that conference. Joseph
Hampton led the Stags with 20 points. Brock Ruble chipped in with 15 points.
Corey Henson added 10.

# 4. Riverdale Baptist 25-7 defeated National
# 5. Paul VI 21-5
# 6. O’Connell 17-8 dropped a 66-63 WCAC contest
to St. John’s. Melo Trimble led the Knights with 21 points.
# 7. Potomac Md. 17-3
# 8. Maret 17-7 defeated St. Andrews 49-48 in a
# 9. Roosevelt 17-6 after suffering a 69-62 defeat at
the hands of the Colts of Coolidge the Rough Riders defeated Coolidge
92-75. Johnnie Shuler leads Roosevelt 15.4 pts. per game. Jarell Allen
chips in at 10.0. Anthony Whitney averages 8.7
# 10. Coolidge 13-12 split with Roosevelt. Jamal Gregory
leads the Colts averaging 20.9 Sam Briggs averages 16.3 with
help from Justin Route 10.2 and Doug Fairley 12.2.
#10. St. Andrews 17-5

upcoming tournaments in hopes of a NCAA or post season
