February 27, 2013 - It seems just weeks ago the 2012-2013 basketball
NCAA tipped off and now we are in the stretch in preparation for conference
tournament play. The CIAA Tournament in the NCAA’S Division II started
Tuesday night with two preliminary games.
The tournament is being held at the Time-Warner Arena in Charlotte, North
Carolina.

Otto Porter has been devestating.
Tuesday Night February 26th the tournament started with
Chowan edging Shaw College 59-58 in a thriller. In the Second game Virginia
St. defeated Fayetteville St. 75-65.
Wednesday St. Augustine 15-11 (5-5) will face Va. State 13-14 (4-6). Bowie
St. 13-14 (5-5) will face Chowan 8-19 (0-10) in conference play during
the regular season.
Thursday night Elizabeth City State 16-10 (7-3) will face Johnson C. Smith
16-10 (5-5). Winston Salem St. 20-5 (7-3) will face Va. Union 10-14 (6-4).
Livingston 20-5 (8-2) will face the winner of Elizabeth City/J.C.Smith.
and Lincoln 17-9 (8-2) will face the winner of Bowie/Chowan.
The semi-finals will be played Friday with the championship game being
played on Saturday.
The Georgetown Hoyas positioned themselves with in the Big East and the
national picture with a 57-46 win over Syracuse. The Hoyas with a stifling
defense forced 16 turnovers and held Syracuse to 34% shooting from the
floor.
Otto Porter led the Hoyas with 33 points. Moses Ayegba led the Hoyas with
10 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Ayegba had played in 4 games prior to
the Syracuse game. Moses played 27 minutes including the entire second
half.
A record crowd of 35,012 a NCAA on campus attendance record saw the Hoyas
improve to 21-4 (11-3) as they took sole possession of first place in
the Big East.
Georgetown will face Connecticut tonight and hosts Rutgers Saturday.
The Howard University Bison defeated Maryland-Eastern Shore 49-45 to improve
to 7-22(4-11) in MEAC play.
Anton Dickerson led the Bison with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Tree Lee
chipped in with 11 points and 4 rebounds.
The Bison will hosts Delaware St. Saturday in their home finale. The tip-off
is set for 6pm.
George Washington will hosts nationally ranked St. Louis Saturday. The
tip-off is set for 4pm.
The Maryland Terrapins will face Wake Forest Saturday.
