Campbell and the Cadets prevail.

January 30, 2012 - Bishop Ireton (VA) led for most of the first half when hosting St. John’s (DC) last night, before falling behind during the stanza’s last 30 seconds. They would not lead again, falling to the Cadets 64-51.

With the win, St. John’s, 15-5 overall, 8-3 in the WCAC occupies third place in that league. Fellow conference member Ireton (12-9, 3-8) is seventh.

Tre Campbell gets a shot off.

St. John’s used successful cross screening and a quick pace to grab control of the game. Junior guard Tre Campbell added afterward “We played ‘D’, and we played harder”, as well as perform more “under control”.

The Cardinals battled back from 12 down to just five late in the fourth quarter, after senior guard Louis Khori scored both of his three point baskets, one being a rare four point play. Khori finished with 18 points, a game high. Junior forward Patrick Moseh contributed 10 points for Ireton.

Campbell paced the Cadets by dropping 15 points. Fellow junior backcourt guy Darian Bryant had 12.

Up next for SJC is DeMatha, who they host Friday at 7:30p. The same day and time, Bishop Ireton tips at Good Counsel.
