Don't count Montrose Chrisitan out.

Novemer 27, 2013 - There has been much change at Montrose Christian School (MD) this year; gone is long time and high profile coach Stu Vetter, while Bryan Bratley is there. Vetter's departure contained some controversy, with the school reportedly being made devoid of basic basketball necessities, in addition to players. Bratley et al have persevered, and the program is poised to have a successful season.

Following are some of the players observed when Montrose traveled to DeMatha Catholic (MD) to scrimmage:

Allonzo Trier - 6'3", 185 pound, Class of 2015 guard, Montrose - Joining Montrose from Oklahoma, Trier has offers from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Minnesota and Kansas. He's tracking as a shooting guard in college.

Able to shoot and drive, Trier gets buckets. Must become a more focused defender for college.

Allonzo Trier is a bucket getter.

Jarrell Brantley - 6'5", 210 pound, Class of 2014 forward, Montrose - Having just joined Montrose from South Carolina, Brantley is a tough playing three-man that loves to attack the tin and compete.

A strong player, Brantley must burnish his shooting range going forward. South Carolina State, Elon, High Point, OVC teams and others are recruiting him.

Alani Moore - 5'10", 160 pound, Class of 2016 point guard, DeMatha - Penn State has offered Moore after a recent visit, while Miami, Notre Dame, VA Tech and others showing interest. What they see is an athletic penetrator capable of finding people.

Moore understands he must continue to strengthen his shooting - from distance and mid-range. Can defend on ball solidly.

Brandon Alston - 6'4", 185 pound, Class of 2014 swingman, DeMatha - Injuries have hampered Alston in high school, including those concerning knees. As a result, playing time at DeMatha has been scarce.

Finally rounding into a position to play, Alston brings shooting, an understanding of the game and some length to the table immediately. A prep school year could help him in terms of college recruitment.
