Things started pointing in right direction.

May 22, 2013 - After drills and half court ball, Team Takeover’s director Keith Stevens was moderately pleased. It was a big change from the day before, when he and other coaches let their 17u/16u charges know, in no uncertain terms, they were slacking.

“Today, I think we did a better job of competing, a decent job of focusing” said Stevens after the Sunday morning practice. He went on to stress self-policing in a positive manner as necessary for a good team to function.

Drake Goddard on the move.

Overall, the session proved more efficient, more helpful, than the Saturday's.

Takeover’s 17u Black team is headed to Minneapolis for Elite Youth Basketball League play this upcoming weekend, and Stevens expects more than just hoops on his charges’ minds: “When you go on the road this week, it’s mandatory you bring your books – If you come up there with no books, you will not play”.

Stevens et al are quite aware many of their players are taking exams in school, and are currently preparing.

Player Notes:

Drake Goddard – 6’2”, 190 pound junior guard, Maret (DC) – A combo guard that indicated after practice, “I’m probably going to play the one on the next level”, Goddard is focusing on running a team, as well as needing to “Improve my outside shot”. Interestingly enough, he shared “Growing up I played the four (power forward) and five (center) and gradually moved (to the perimeter)".

This 2.8 GPA student-athlete at academically challenging Maret rightfully labeled himself “A competitor and good defender” who is quick and can drive.

The likes of Mount St. Mary’s, Kennessaw State, Towson, Mount St. Mary’s, Quinnipiac , UNC Greensboro and others have shown interest, but have not tended scholarship offers.
