Morgan State is priming for the future.

November 24, 2015 - In basketball players with height can change the game by playing above the rim, locking down the paint and punishing offenses and defenses internally. As the saying goes, hoops is best won inside-out.

To that end, Morgan State has secured the services of two high school senior paint prowlers in Azariah Sykes and Tyjhal Byers.

Tyjhal Byers during i95Ballerz.com Summer League play.

Byers, a 6'10", 210 pound pivot from Bethesda-Chevy Chase (MD) signed his National Letter of Intent last week, thereby binding him to Morgan. Long and fairly bouncy, Byers is an up and coming center, one that sticks to what he's good at - working offensively and defensively in the paint.

Sykes, standing 6'8" and also 210 pounds is a forward that has been compared to Larry Stewart, who first at Coppin State and then with the NBA's Washington Bullets cleaned glass, scored around the tin and provided an all around interior presence.

Morgan and head coach Todd Bozeman seemingly are ensuring a strong foundation in 2016 and beyond.
