July 16, 2008 - Huntsville, Alabama (J.O. Johnson High School) native Joshua Langford has been working hard all summer to improve his overall skills on the basketball floor. Already possessing superior athleticism and a knack for attacking the basket, the rising junior has begun to transform himself from an interior presence into a more perimeter threat. High major programs were already well aware of what Joshua to accomplish on the court, but Langford was hoping to get a solid scholarship offer from one school in particular. This past weekend at the Kentucky Hoop Fest he got the tender he was looking for.
Joshua Langford (shown here vs. Lee High) uses his superior strength and athleticism to his advantage. “My dream school is Louisville and they offered me a scholarship this weekend,” exclaimed a jubilant Langford. “I love their program; the style they play and of course they have a great coach.” The 6-foot-6, 2010 forward continues to improve his game; going from a garbage type player to one capable of taking his man off the dribble, attacking the baseline and stroking the jumper out to the three-point line. “I’ve been playing real well this summer and just trying to work hard and continue to get better. I have a tendency to try and rush things and lose my composure when I get frustrated. That is something that I’m slowly beginning to manage.” Langford had an exceptional tournament at both the Nike Hoop Jamboree and the more recent Hoop Fest; scoring in double figures with regularity while playing the center spot for his Alabama Lasers 16U squad. USC, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, Penn State, Memphis, Stanford and UAB have all been showing Joshua love to varying degrees, but the Cardinals have been in constant contact and currently lead for his services. “They’ve been telling me some things I still need to work on, so I just want to keep improving. That’s what I’m focusing on right now. When the time is right I’ll make a decision.” “Louisville is my leader at this point.”
