HS playoffs in full swing.

December 5, 2014 - H.D. Woodson captured their second consecutive DCIAA Turkey Bowl Championship with a come from behind 16-12 win over the Ballou Knights. It was Woodson’s 14th title in the Turkey Bowls 45 year history.

The Warriors jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on a one yard plunge by quarterback Rashad Cooper.

Ballou stormed back on a 31 yard interception touchdown run by Delontae Moore to cut the lead to 7-6.

The Knights started the third quarter on a 38 yard touchdown run by Martin Johnson to take a 12-7 after the third quarter.

The Warriors came back on the rushing of Dymie Stone (27-144yds.) to take a 16-12 win.

Ballou finished their season at 7-6.

H.D. Woodson improved to 11-2 and they will
face Gonzaga for the DCIAA Class AA final.

The Eastern Ramblers behind sophomore quarterback Jerome Johnson (1-27-307yds-5tds.) defeated Sidwell Friends for the DCIAA Class A championship. Johnson also rushed for 142 yards on 16 carries.

It ended a successful season for the Ramblers, capturing their ninth consecutive win after dropping their first four games. Eastern finished their season with a record of 9-4.

Sidwell was led by running back Miles Brown who rushed for 103 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Quakers finished their season at 9-4.

The DeMatha Stags captured their second consecutive WCAC title with a 24-20 win over Good Counsel at the Naval Academy.

The Falcons jumped out to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter but the resilient Stags scored 17 points to take a 17-14 lead into the half.

Stags quarterback Beau English connected on a 26 yard pass to Anthony McFarland as the Stags took the lead.

The teams traded scores in the third quarter with the defenses pitching shutouts in the fourth quarter.

DeMatha finished their season with a record of 9-3. Good Counsel dropped to 10-2.

In other high school playoff action.

Maryland:

Douglass blanked South Carroll 43-0. Damascus shutout Glenelg 33-0. Northwest beat DuVal 47-12.

Virginia:

Tuscarora beat Broad Run 35-14. James Monroe defeated Loudoun Valley 34-19. Centreville stopped Battlefield 56-21. Westfield beat Lake Braddock 42-20. and Massapononax edged Stone Bridge 29-25.
