Lucas' Future of the Game East is upcoming

Camp is for those who desire to improve.

Hampton, VA's 2nd Annual John Lucas Future of the Game East in Hampton, VA is a camp for 5th and 6th grade boys , held September 1st - 2nd. According to organizer Brian Merritt, it's real.

"We are looking for the brightest and the best" explained Merritt of the camp's focus via email, late last month. Though he acknowledged "We are actively recruiting the top kids which we will have at the camp", they will not "reject a 5/6th grader who wants to test his skills with the best". Nevertheless coaches and parents do "need to understand up front this is not a normal camp, all kids are expected to know how to shoot, dribble, pass and make a layup. We are going to be teaching some more advanced concepts and would prefer that the players be more than just willing participants".

Evaluators will be on hand, as well competent, knowledgeable instructors. That's not surprising, as John Lucas Basketball Resources has emerged as one of the best organizations for developing talent - young and older - in America.
