Big Saturday and Sunday for DMVElite.com.

March 25, 2015 - Saturday and Sunday, Bowie City Gym (4100 Northview Dr, Bowie, MD 20716) will be packed with young basketball hopefuls, some preparing to transition out of high school, others still in it. It's DMVElite.com's Showcase Extravaganza!

Saturday, the Unsigned Seniors event will occurs, allowing boys in their senior year of high school yet not having a scholarship offer to earn one. As DMVElite.com's Editor-in-Chief Marcus Helton noted today "We did it last year, and we had 40-plus college coaches and a couple of guys get scholarships out of it, so we're excited.

This year, Helton indicated around 50 coaches from various collegiate levels - D2, D3, Juco, NAIA - are scheduled to compete. Division 1 coaches are not allowed to attend such events during this time period, but will be provided a scouting report.

Sunday brings the Premier Run, an all day confab in which high school boys graded 9-11 compete in front of coaches (non-Division 1) and media evaluators, in the hopes of gaining exposure.

"It's a good way for some of the guys we haven't seen to get a look on them", said Helton. He also made the good point this year's Premier Run is a springboard into travel team competition, standing as an opportunity for "guys to get warmed up for the circuit".

Both events cost $75, with registration starting around 1130a, followed by stretching, station work, games/measurements. The Unsigned Senior and Premier Run each end around 6p.
