November 5, 2013 - National Christian (MD) was the primary home of DMV Elite's Fall League since its September 15th start. The playoffs, which began October 22nd were examplary, as was the league overall.
Following is information on players and teams gleaned during the league's early playoff rounds.
For scores, see DMVElite.com.
Forestville's Brandon Dawson.
Deshawn Leggett - 6'3", 170 pound senior forward, Ballou HS (DC) - Leggett puts his long arms to work cleaning the glass and defending. Hustles, but must work on his footwork and handle.
Chief Amoah - 6'0", 180 pound senior point guard, Edison (VA) - Howard, JMU, Bucknell, Mount St. Mary's, FAMU, Western Carolina and Mt. Olive have expressed interest in Amoah, a floor general who can score in the lane and outside it. He's heady and aggressive.
Amoah, is working on the consistency of his jump shot and lateral quickness,
the latter stressing on band utilization. He also wants to get stronger,
thereby becoming more athletic.
Brandon Dawson - 5'9", 150 pound senior guard, Forestville (MD) - Dawson dropped 19 points against Edison in basically all manners possible; fastbreak, driving in the half court, pulling up for three. He's a dynamo on the court, who plays all out, all the time.
The aggressive Dawson must demonstrate define whether he's a point guard or shooting guard, which will define his recruitment (right now, he's not receiving interest). His shot selection and left hand handle also needs to be improved. But make no bones about it, this guy can play.
Edison - The Eagles can play fast or slow, and even have an effective 2-2-1, 3/4 court press which creates offense.
National Christian - NCA has one of the best big men in the DMV - Sylvester Ogbonda, but have a question mark at point guard; someone must step up.
Bowie - Point guard Jared Gray (5'9" senior) can drive and dish. He can manufacture points.
