DCIAA and Charter League Open Run is tomorrow

Overlooked, DC players on display Thursday.

April 8, 2015 - College recruiters constantly complain about not finding players to fit their needs. In the DMV, those complaints ring hollow, as the DCIAA and Charter School leagues are chockful of them. Add the fact that many actually receive funding for college, and to not recruit DC proper makes no sense.

Don't think DC is overlooked? For the Class of 2015 not one senior has a scholarship. Division I, II, III, NAIA and JUCO school's have failed to recruit any graduating DC public/charter school kid.

That's insane.

Working to rectify this travesty is Malcolm Battle, head coach of Chavez Charter School and other concerned educators. The group brings college coaches an open run opportunity tomorrow - seniors and select underclassmen will play under the whistle, displaying their talents in the process.

Specifics follow:

Site: Chavez Charter School, 3701 Hayes St., NE, WDC

Date: Thursday, April 9th, 2015

Open to: All college coaches, with the exception of those in Division I.

Participating players: Seniors and select underclassmen in the DCIAA and Charter School leagues. Interested, un-chosen students should contact Battle at Chavez to secure entry.

Recruiters stop belly-aching and attend! The next Byron Ashe (Mt. St. Mary's), Markee Mazyck (WV State), Mo Jeffers (Delaware), Tyrie Elliott (WV State), Phil Hawkins (TX State), Raf Gutherie (Towson), Tyler Thompson (WV State), Khalen Cumberlander (CCSU), Thaddeus Smith (UKMC), Christian Lutete (Radford) or a host of others could be on your team!
