Gridiron action has been hot.

September 12, 2012 - The Howard University Bison traveled to Rutgers University a member of the Big East Conference and the BCS and along the way picked up a check for $350,000.

By the way Rutgers defeated the visitors 26-0 before a crowd of 50,855 in the Scarlet Knights' season opener.

Freshman William Parker was a bright spot for Howard, rushing for 51 yards on 11 carries. Parker did have a costly fumble on the two yard line.

The Bison dropped to 1-1 on the season. Howard travels to Norfolk State Saturday.

The Cavaliers of UVA dodged a bullet as Penn State kicker Sam Ficken missed four field goals including a 42 yarder with no time remaining as the home team Cavaliers edged State 17-16 before a crowd of 50,855.
