Big plays won this game.

January 15, 2015 - Surrattsville invaded Central's renovated gym last week with intentions on taking down the home team, a significant feat given the latter's then six game winning streak. Make it seven in a row, as Central prevailed 97-93 in a thrilling double overtime contest, last Friday.

This PG 2A contest was marked by tenaciousness on both teams: Each fell behind at various times in the game, but found ways to keep fighting.

Case in point was junior guard Trent Dixon's free throw with :03 in reguation. That make followed Dixon miss, enhancing the pressure on him on him to know the game at 70. He finished with 21 points.

Equally as important and a minute and 35 seconds prior to that, teammate Javani Brown (game high 23 points) made a rare four point play, rising up from 20 feet, sinking that long ball while being fouled and making his charity shot. The play decreased Central's deficit to one.

Aiding Central was a fourth quarter switch to a 2-3 zone, which seemed ever so slightly to slow Surrattsville down.

Trent Dixon on the move.

The visitors also responded at key moments, including first and fourth quarter three point binges by senior guard Tyrek Mackey, who knocked down a total of six long balls for 20 points total. Senior guard Tyrone Wolridge matched that point production.

Having since blown out Tall Oaks, Surrattsville is now 8-3 on the season. They face Oxon Hill this evening.

Central was scheduled to play Friendly this week (score unavailable). After the Surrattsville win it remains undefeated, not having tasted defeat in seven tries. Tonight they welcome Potomac.

Recruit Update:

Tyrek Mackey - 6'0", 185 pound senior guard, Surrattsville - A sweet shooting guard, Mackey can drop them in bunches. Though not his strong point, will drive if run off three point line.

Needs to do more things off the bounce. Understands that's necessary.

No interest at this point. Could be a Division III sharpshooter.
