Guard enrolled this week.
November 9, 2012 - Mercurial and oft discussed Class of 2013 guard Aquille Carr has transferred to Princeton Day Academy (MD). Previously, Carr attended Patterson (MD) in Baltimore. Talk has been he was set to transfer to B'More's Lake Clifton HS, but decided it is in his own best interest to get out of the Charm City: Known as the Crimestopper due to a penchant for attracting some of the city's most nefarious citizens off the streets during his games, Carr has become a celebrity in Baltimore. With that, comes immense pressure, at times a lack of boundaries and constant attention, all of which are not good for the development of young people.
That's Aquille Carr, flying to the rim in NBAPA Top 100 play. On the court, Carr is an exciting, athletic 5'6" guard that loves an up tempo game, where he scores frequently, including layups and jumpers. More than capable of finding teammates, Carr must do so primarily, if he is to succeed at the highest rungs of college ball, and beyond. Add consistently defending - not just reaching for steals - to his must-develop list. He previously committed to Seton Hall. Princeton Day's coach, Van Whitfield, has a history of taking in and working with highly talented players who have had their share of trouble/difficulties: Former all-everything guard Chris Thomas had a disjointed home life in Denver, leading to homelessness before enrolling at PDA, while local guys like Jeremiah Bowman played for Whitfield (Southern Maryland Christian). Both, amongst others, have entered and/or graduated from college years later - Thomas is at Chipola CC, while Bowman graduated from Longwood University. Carr falls along those lines, having recently been assigned community service after a dispute with his girlfriend/child's mother. He also has earned a reputation (fairly or not) for being strong willed, and at times disrespectful to the game. Check back with i95Ballerz.com for coverage of PDA this season.
